When Feathers Go Digital: Media.Work’s OPPO Wallpaper
Media.Work’s award-winning wallpaper designs for OPPO’s Find N3 smartphone series demonstrate how digital illustration can transcend mere device decoration to become an integral brand expression. The studio’s innovative feather compositions—balancing organic textures with precise digital rendering—showcase how thoughtful wallpaper design can both complement product engineering and establish visual identity. By meticulously studying feather structures and developing compositions that mirror the refined curves of OPPO’s foldable devices, the team created an elegant visual ecosystem that harmonizes technological innovation with nature-inspired aesthetics, earning well-deserved Gold honors in the Graphis Design Awards 2025.

OPPO, one of the world's largest manufacturers, is renowned primarily for its smartphones. Preparing for the global launch of both the Find N3 Flip and Find N3 phones, OPPO entrusted the Media.Work team with the job of producing the wallpapers to establish the main visual direction for this series.

Inheriting the theme of the previous generations, we created an elegant feather composition capturing the refined curves and details of the foldable phones. The wallpapers symbolize the harmony between technology and aesthetics, seamlessly integrating with the essence of OPPO's innovative design philosophy.

Diving with all our enthusiasm into the RnD stage, we explored lots of combinations of forms, colors, and textures to find the delicate balance between naturalness and digital abstraction. We have delved deep into the study of varieties of feather shapes, gathering an entire collection on our virtual board. The feather structure, texture, and thickness of the tufts all mattered in the context of finding a base and emphasizing the overall dynamics of the composition. Observing real-world references, we analyzed the intricate interplay of soft, organic curves and rigid, linear elements within feathers, seeking the right proportions to maintain a sense of realism while embracing a stylized aesthetic.

Media.Work is a collective of innovators, designers, artists, and creators who are exploring visual ways to convey ideas in collaborations with ambitious organizations and independently. The studio creates cross-disciplinary experimental projects and rethinks standards and patterns of design on a global scale, collaborating with such brands as Microsoft, IKEA, Sony, Google, OPPO, Pinterest, L’Oréal, and many others.
