Philosophy on Work

His work is based on a strong European tradition of German and Austrian trademark design, composed of bold geometric forms coupled with a whimsical, playful element underlining his work. This design esthetic is also strongly influenced and adapted from early woodblock printing in Japan, moku hanga which is a technique best known for its use in the ukiyo-e artistic genre. Tivadar Bote’s Gold and Silver coin design series, “Untamed Canada” a commissioned project for the Royal Canadian Mint in Ottawa was based on this design sensibility. The three coins include the Arctic Fox, the Pronghorn Antelope and the Wolverine, iconic wildlife of Canada’s majestic landscape. The coins were commissioned on the basis of showcasing five different coin finishes, each with a separate degree of luster, exceptional engraving techniques and woodblock-inspired art. The Royal Canadian Mint produces Canada's circulation coins and collector coins: gold, silver, palladium, and platinum bullion coins.
