To create poster artwork that was original and different from years past. The client asked to keep it weird with a hint of the 70's.
Looking at what people have done in the past for motorcycle shows, I wanted to do something different. There's a slew of posters with grim reapers riding choppers, so I wanted to stay away from that. The idea was to create a story without showing a motorcycle. The idea of a rider traveling to the show in Wisconsin...in February sounded brutal. It sounded like an accident waiting to happen (not many people actually ride to the show on their bikes unless it's obnoxiously warm). So that's what I created; a rider who just traveled in the winter to the show, looking all beaten up, missing finger, missing parts, etc. But he made it and he's ready to party.
The turnout was pretty incredible. The crowd was massive and everyone seemed to have a great time! The artwork was also used on a beer can tallboy, banners, flyers and merchandise, all of which got a positive response.
