Special invitation poster within the thematic axis of the "Día de Muertos" – Day of the Dead a celebration of life and death for Autopsia Colectiva CALACARTELES VI poster exhibition Mexico.
On the Day of the Dead, it’s believed that the border between the spirit world and the real world dissolve. During this brief period, the souls of the dead awaken and return to the living world to feast, drink, dance and play music with their loved ones. In the poster we used a mouth-to-mouth resuscitation doll found in a recycling store to illustrate this years Covid-19 pandemic with so many people balancing on the edge between life and death. Described in the poem below from Mexican poet Jaime Sabines:— Someone spoke to me in my ear every day of my life, gently, slowly, it said me! live, live, live! it was death.
The Day of the Dead (el Día de los Muertos), is a Mexican holiday where families welcome back the souls of their deceased relatives for a brief reunion that includes food, drink and celebration. A blend of Mesoamerican ritual, European religion and Spanish culture, the holiday is celebrated each year from October 31- November 2.
Exhibited at Autopsia Colectiva CALACARTELES VI in Mexico autumn 2020.

2020 has for now been a year of clean hands and physical distance because op the Covid-19 pandemic. Causing distance, isolation worldwide. Hopefully somewhere out there in the future we hopefully can hug again. The poster is finally drawn and made in illustration with hands making the typographic composition.

Hope is part of our daily practice. We constantly hoping for something, oftenat both, individual or collective level. In times of pandemic, fake news, elections, environmental crisis, wars, we have different approaches to hope. Our mindset even determines whether the needle bursts the balloons or not.
