The Collective Studio Creates a Home that Breathes with Its Surroundings
Amid Bangkok’s lush Bang Kachao, The Collective Studio Co., Ltd. has envisioned a home that feels alive within its environment. The Nest is a poetic fusion of form and foliage—a riverside retreat that redefines the boundaries between architecture and nature. With its flowing curves, organic materials, and seamless transitions between interior and landscape, this residence embodies The Collective Studio’s mastery of balance, where modern living meets natural serenity.

Nestled within Bangkok’s verdant Bang Kachao, often dubbed the city’s “green lung,” Featured in Graphis Journal #385, The Nest by The Collective Studio Co., Ltd. is a riverside residence that redefines architectural harmony with nature. Spanning 4,305 square feet, this futuristic home, completed in 2024, draws inspiration from the concept of a nest—a protective refuge seamlessly woven into its surroundings.
Designed along the Chao Phraya River, The Nest transforms the riverside into a multifunctional retreat. Polished stone benches emerge naturally from the ground, blurring the line between built and natural elements.
Inside, The Nest prioritizes both relaxation and connection. A wooden deck terrace, cooled by a vertical garden, serves as a social hub, while a curvaceous swimming pool echoes the building’s contours, offering river views with seclusion.
Balancing legal constraints like height limits and setbacks, The Nest embraces a playful, curvilinear form that mirrors the organic flow of its environment. The exterior is a symphony of smooth, flowing lines, with a concrete garage elevated beneath a modern-retro roof clad in artificial grass, extending the lush landscape skyward. Circular skylights puncture the structure, casting dynamic patterns of light and shadow.
The landscape design integrates trees and greenery to frame the home, enhancing privacy while a spiral staircase, wrapped in aluminum wood-patterned slats, anchors the interior, channeling sunlight across multiple levels. This interplay of light, texture, and form creates an airy, expansive feel despite the home’s modest footprint.
The Nest is more than a residence—it’s a dialogue between modernity and nature. The Collective Studio Co., Ltd. has crafted a space that feels both intimate and boundless, a testament to innovative design that respects its ecological context while offering a serene escape from Bangkok’s urban sprawl.
