The Dainik Bhaskar Group embodies 'Zidd' (resolve) in its growth story. From being a single edition newspaper which was launched in Bhopal, it is today the largest circulated newspaper of India (Source: ABC JD ’15) and the 4th largest daily of the world (Source: WAN IFRA, World Press Trends). This Zidd or resolve is reflected in our actions and we are encouraging our readers and stakeholders to adopt the same. Zidd is our clarion call; the resilience, the determination, the strength to change and be at the helm of change. Through the Annual Report FY16, we aimed to exhibit this resilience (Zidd) which is ingrained in our ethos and is the foundation of our success.
In a highly competitive environment, the readiness to combat challenges, is key to sustained business success. The world today is subject to disruptive innovations, changes and diverse resource availability to various players for their business. The Annual Report adopted the method of taking each facet of the business, outlining the Zidd for it, and then demonstrating how the resolve was achieved or is in the process of being achieved. We wanted to showcase the fact that the Zidd at DB Group is all encompassing and dealt with at an overall vision as well as at a granular level.
From adopting a three-pronged strategy focusing aggressively on editorial, circulation and Advertising yield, expanding the ‘Dainik Bhaskar’ brand in new regions, thought leadership of bringing Hindi at the forefront of digital consumption for the Tier II & Tier II cities of India, being country’s fastest growing radio network focusing on localized revenue streams to ensuring efficiencies on the operating side with a strong corporate governance were a few examples of our relentless spirit – The Zidd!
The response from external and internal stakeholders has been overwhelming. It reinforced investor confidence by showcasing our efficiencies and business practices which are benchmarks in the Indian media industry.
