The second season of Star Trek Picard was filled with surprises for Star Trek fans, but none so exciting as the return of "Q"—Jean-Luc Picard's arch nemesis. Paramount+ wanted to highlight the rivalry between the two legendary figures, to excite the audience.
We approached the campaign as a series of striking black and white portraits, pairing characters who had unresolved issues in their relationships. Instead of literally facing each other, we took the approach that "Q" was haunting Jean-Luc, that he had successfully gotten into his head, and positioned him behind Picard.
The poster was distributed and installed in a massive campaign around NYC, including throughout the World Trade Center and Union Station.
