To reflect the core idea of ligature, we opted to use a typeface, Jaune, by NaN type foundry, that uses closed apertures, increasing the "connective tissue" of the typeface itself. We then created a composition that took the meaning of ligature way too far, linking all the letters together in unexpected ways — a ligature "fiction". The wordmark assumes its own meaning.
Moreover, persisting with the idea of connection and continuity, we took a frame from one of the videos and arranged it as if the frame had frozen. This allowed for two things. One was to refer to the medium being used in the exhibit —video— and the other was to create the possibility of an infinite loop, as several posters can be stacked and both the image and composition flow seamlessly between all of them. Effectively, the whole poster works as a ligature itself. The medium (poster) assumes its own meaning.
