How did you manage to get such great results with this photograph?
By allowing the image to take on its own life: start with a general idea, but as the image develops, the approach must be able to change in order to allow the image to evolve.
To produce the best work for a client, what is the ideal working relationship between you and an art director or designer?
It certainly needs to be a collaboration, but I hope that by the time the project
reaches the photographer, they want that extra something that comes from the photographer’s style.
How do you balance commercial work and personal work?
Sometimes you don’t. It’s always a struggle. It can be difficult to change hats quickly, but after a few years the divisions become clearer and easier to navigate.
