In this project, I selected a musical artist and created a compilation album of eleven songs. I came up with the name, content, and packaging of the vinyl using typography as the primary design element. The final deliverables were a vinyl record sleeve, liner notes, and a record.
I chose Harry Styles as the musical artist for this project. He creates music for a broad spectrum of people and a broad spectrum of emotions. His songs explore topics like drugs, sex and sexuality, love, and heartbreak. PCH, standing for Pacific Coast Highway is a record that highlights eleven of his more energetic songs that celebrate a summery feeling and Styles’ relationship with drugs, sexuality, and heartbreak. I wanted to celebrate the multiple layers of the selected songs by layering hand-cut warped lettering. I chose cooper black as my typeface to celebrate the 1970s influences shown in Harry Styles' music.
The colors selected and warped text create a summery and psychedelic feeling that gets the viewer ready for the vibe of the record. I was overall very satisfied with the outcome of the work.
