Since WD-40 is used to take care of metal material the idea that it was like gardening eventually won out over other similar forced connections that were either already done by others or wasn't as strong. The art style used harkened in a way toward a trend in mechanic commercials that use a more animated art style.
Above average, the art style ended up as a point of contention.
