The Australian Graphic Design Association (AGDA) is the central body for professional graphic designers in Australia, which works on increasing awareness and importance of graphic design in business, education and culture, through a program of awards, exhibitions, seminars and activities for members. As a not-for-profit body, budgets are tight and over time the communications material had become lackluster and therefore events were poorly attended. Our aim with the 2009 calendar of events was to first and foremost make the information visible to design studios, where in the past the calendar had often sat out of sight on people’s shelves or in drawers, due to format and over-styling. The key was to get it onto people’s walls, and follow the laws of simplicity in a cluttered environment.
