For this project, I was assigned a book to create a book jacket for. The jacket had to creatively reflect the key concept or idea of the story. The book I was assigned was D.H. Lawrence's, "The Rainbow", which is a story that follows three generations of the same family in the 19th century. Each character struggles with love and complicated relationships.

The winding ropes and threads that snake around the jacket show how the love relationships of the characters are metaphorically held together by a thread. The sepia colors reflect the time period of this story. The pairing of a script and serif typeface also relate to the 19th century theme while providing a nice contrast within the text itself.

I think this book jacket successfully captures the complicated relationships within this story through the use of the rope and string. As a whole, I was very happy with how this project turned out!
