For this project, I was assigned to make and photograph a still life. I experimented with various ideas and concepts as I wanted the final product to be unexpected and relevant to the real world.
To execute my concept, I decided to craft a physical sculpture using an alarm clock and candles. Each candle was carefully attached to the surface of the clock and lit before being photographed. By allowing the wax to drip freely and the candles to melt at different speeds, the sculpture took on a life of its own. I then took multiple photos as the candles melted to capture the passage of time.
This project ended up being successful. The concept was executed appropriately with careful attention to detail as I made the sculpture. I believe that the final photograph captures the light and color very efficiently.
