This report was the 6th report that we produced for Sappi. The brief was to dramatically change the look and feel from prior years since the strategic focus had moved from paper production to cellulose - which is used in many household and industrial products. The client had also revised their CI so we needed to ensure the overall look and feel was in alignment and conveyed the essence of the improvements.
Although this is a conservative client, we made some dramatic changes to layout that had not been considered in previous years – transparent boxes and layering and the use of more CI colours, rather than only the obligatory blue and grey, brightened the appearance of the report and gave it a more modern look and feel. Refer contents page and products page 28. Since the report was focusing on cellulose, the cover image had to showcase this – it was a stroke of genius on the part of the designer who found this stock image, which not only related to the subject matter (viscose material contains cellulose) but allowed us to herald in a new era of cover for this client –a magazine look: unexpected and sophisticated. Unexpected in that this type of cover is not normally associated with a company that is renowned globally for producing paper of all types.
A most delighted client and a report that made it a hard act to follow the next year!
