Barnana struggled with clarity of communications on their original packaging. We also needed to have the visual execution of the brands more accurately reflect their new brand strategy with an emphasis on flavor & fun!
We realized fairly early on that in order to embody the excitement & fun of the brand, we needed to collaborate with an illustrator. Speto is a well-known Brazilian street artist & was a perfect match for Barnana. He had a great blend of uninhibited energy without being childlike. We developed a layout with dynamic typography (the client requested we maintain the existing logotype), brilliant banana leaves and Nana, the character that swings from the logotype and symbolizes fun of the brand.
The client was thrilled with the result! Sales have maintained at Costco, where their plantain chips lead in salty snacks, and exploded in other natural and conventional grocery stores.
