In honor of Alabama’s 200th anniversary of statehood, we partnered with the Alabama Humanities Foundation to create the Making Alabama Poster Series. The objective of the Conflict Poster was to vividly capture the historical essence of Alabama from the year 1700 to 1815.
The Conflict Poster illustrates a tumultuous era of conflict and conquest in Alabama. A colonial ship flying four nation’s flags emerges over a Creek warrior’s silhouette symbolizing the epic battle for territorial control that unfolded in Alabama over a centuries time. The poster is comprised of original, hand-drawn illustrations.
The Conflict Poster has captured the imagination of thousands of Alabamians throughout the state. It is now used as a teaching tool for Alabama history on field trips, museum visits and in the classroom.
