Biography/Work Experience

Parish Kohanim has been intimately involved with photography for over 25 years. Parish, who is a renowned commercial photographer, is now devoting his efforts towards his first love, fine art photography. Parish's passion for the subtle beauty of life is apparent in his photographs. He has focused on many exquisite subjects, and is able to bring them out of the frame and into the live imagination of the viewer. After working in San Francisco and New York, he decided to open his studio in Atlanta. He has been very successful in his commercial endeavors for many years in Atlanta. Advertising agencies, design firms, and Fortune 500 companies have been his primary clients, some of which include IBM, AT&T, Coca-Cola, DeBeers Diamonds, Hanes, Fossil, and Kimberly Clark. His work has repeatedly appeared on pages of such publications as Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, Forbes, Time and Newsweek. The recipient of many awards, Parish is recognized for his photographs with international as well as local acclaim. His work has been featured in prestigious photography, advertising, and design publications. He has received numerous Gold Addys, a Clio, and most recently, the 2003 One Show Design Award. The Parish Kohanim Fine Art Gallery, located in the heart of the art district in Midtown Atlanta, is currently exhibiting a spectrum of photographic images comprised of contemporary yet timeless studies of color, light, and form. The images of Parish Kohanim speak for themselves, for they reflect the love and commitment of a serious and sincere artist. He has been devoted to both unusual and traditional photography infused with imagination. He works with the conventional darkroom techniques of black and white printing. Each of his black and white prints is hand printed and hand toned. It is evident that neither time nor place puts any restriction, but only enhances his insatiable desire to create original work.
